a chelsea boot love affair

A couple years ago, after witnessing the disaster that is my shopping habits, my mom made an excellent point: stop buying disposable clothing and save up for good quality items that will last. I can’t tell you how often I came home with bags from inexpensive retailers just to have those items end up in the garbage or a donation bag. I am sure some of you can relate, and if you think about, your best stuff has lasted the longest.

So I treated myself to a special purchase. I have been shopping around for the perfect black, Chelsea boot and although I found some nice ones, my mind always came back to the Alexander Wang Anouck boots. Every pair I tried on, I compared it these, so I knew this was the right purchase. The price was definitely painful, but the more I wear them, the more content I am with my decision.

The boots come up to the shin, a little higher than the average Chelsea boot, which was something I was looking for. I find that it flatters the legs more so than a shorter ankle boot. They feature a pointed toe and a unique cut out on the heel. They are made of smooth black leather with a heel height of 1.5 inches. The pair I bought have rose gold detailing, and also comes in other variations if rose gold isn’t your preference. My favourite way to style them is with skinny jeans, but I look forward to expanding my style and wearing them with a dress. Look out for them in future posts, as I try and step out of my comfort zone!

The boots are available on the Alexander Wang website. I purchased mine at Holt Renfrew in Toronto.
