HaileyxModelCo: glow beauty balm review

Beauty

I am a huge fan of Hailey Baldwin. Even though she is a lot younger than me, I think she is so beautiful and has great style (and she’s a Sag like me so obvs). She recently launched a collaboration with Australian cosmetic company, ModelCo, that I know nothing about (other than Lauren Curtis’ reviews on their lengthening mascara). My favourite thing about Hailey’s style is her minimal, fresh faced make-up. I envy girls who have naturally flawless skin and can get away with no makeup on regular basis. Hailey is one of those girls, so I was excited to try the glow skin perfecting beauty balm – that she wears on its own. I was tempted to buy other products, but they are not cheap, and coming all the way from Australia, I was in for a treat that is duty fees (I did order other ModelCo products that I will review at a later date, but not from her line). Continue reading for my thoughts on this product:

What is it?

It is an illuminating balm that you can wear alone or under makeup. I have worn it without moisturizer, over moisturizer, under makeup, and my favourite way to wear it is with moisturizer. I didn’t find it hydrating enough on its own, and I’m not crazy about it as a primer. Don’t worry about the illuminating part too much as there are no sparkles or glitter – it is more of a wet look, than a glittery look (which I love!).

*Ingredients: Water, Octyldodecanol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Biosaccharide gum-1, a-Bisaboloi (Natural), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Water & Chondrus Crispus Extract and Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Mica, Polysorbate 60, Carbomer, Fragrance, FD&C Yellow No. 6.

Made in Australia.

The Texture

It is a thicker consistency, not quite like a true balm but rather like a primer.

The Smell

It definitely has a fragrance, albeit really lovely, and it did not irritate my skin. I would caution those with high fragrance sensitivities.

The Result

The end result is a dewy, glowing face. Once it sits a little bit it is not as shiny, and it absorbs fairly well. I have an oily nose and it did not make it any oilier.

Would I purchase again?

Probably not, but only because it was really expensive for me. It is $49 USD (currently USD costs us around 1.34 so that’s $66 CAD) plus ~$16 in duties. If you are in Australia or not on a budget, I would recommend you try it if you like dewy skin. It really is a nice product. The only caveat is that it does not layer too well. It balls up a little bit. You should definitely wait until it sets before you blend another product on top.

You can purchase this product at ModelCo‘s website.

Have you tried any of the other HaileyxModelCo products? I would love to know your thoughts and perhaps a recommendation on another product from the line. Let me know in the comments below!
